The Cost of Home campaign has been up and running for a few months now and we keep spreading the word! We’ve had the opportunity to talk with policymakers, activists, and other organizations about the campaign and the excitement has been incredible. Most people we talk to about the campaign love the idea and love to hear about the work we are doing. Moving beyond our homeownership advocacy work into a more holistic housing affordability advocacy is something that everyone is excited about.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to meet with people like State Senators Mona Das and Patty Kuderer as well as State Representatives Cindy Ryu and Andrew Barkis. Having the opportunity to talk with leaders like these about the work that Habitat does and share the stories from our homeowners is so very important. Every opportunity we get to share a story about one of our amazing homeowners and partner families is something to celebrate.
We are focused on helping to find policy solutions that help at every step of the housing continuum. We know that Habitat can’t solve the housing crisis ourselves. There is no single silver bullet that will solve all of our housing problems in Washington state, but by working with partners and legislative leaders, we hope to move closer every day.
